Attractions Amsterdam

The center hides so much different kind of sights and entertainment, almost to much to see. Outside of the center are also very much treasures. Every area has a beautiful, famous, or historical builiding.

Key areas

You can split up the city in different key areas. every key area has it's own beauty, hides his a history or is of great national importance like Damsquare with the national memorial monument of the 2th world war with germany.

Leidseplein

Leidseplein is one of the key areas where the nightlife also concentrates itself, like . A beautyful square with lots of bars, pubs, theatres and clubs. In the leidse plein area you can find also nice restaurants and shopping streets.

Museumplein (museum square)

You can find the beautifull (parc) square museumplein behind the Rijksmuseum. an old area that is recently has bin totally renewed and with succes. Local's love the hang arround at the museumplein. In the summer you will find the locals playing football or just chilling on one the the seats. Van gogh museum and concerts building are also near the Museumplein.

Rembrandt plein (Rembrandt square)

The Rembrandtplein also has a lot of nighlife, disco's club and bars. In the middle of the square you will find a small parc with athe impressive nightwatch statue. arround the remabrandt square there are a lot of attractions and shopping areas

 

The Jordaan

The Jordaan area was during the 2th world war a place of large poverty, nodays one the of most popular places under the locals. It's an area with the most beatifull buildings, nice markets, and attractions like anne frank museum westerkerk(church). it's 10 minutes walking from damsquare

 

Canals

Last but certainly not least the canals of Amsterdam. The canals are all over the center of the city and greates tyogether with the old builings a wonderfull view.

Begijnhof

The begijnhof is an attraction you definatelly have to see while visiting Amsterdam. In about 1150, a group of women( nun's)came together to live in a religious community, primarily to look after the sick. These were, in effect, these were the first 'Beguines' although the name was not yet used.

Where to find it: From damsquare, walk in the kalverstraat 400 meters in the direction of the rembrandtplein, on your right you will find a small street Begijnsteeg, go in there and you will find the Begijnhof.

Vondel parc

The Vondel parc is over 140 years old.It was named the new parc. In 1867 a statue was placed from "van Vondel", after that the the people called the "Vondel park". In 1880 the Name was officially changed to Vondelpark. The Locals are really proud on their Parc, wich is visited yearly by more then 8 milion people.
